07/05/2005 :We arrived safe and sound in Melbourne this afternoon. The weather is a bit rubbish - but Melbourne itself is strangely similar to Manchester!! We spent most of the evening just seeing what was around St Kilda (the area where we are staying) and seeing what bars/pubs/restaurants there are for us to sample during the week. Our hostel is quite nice. We've got our own room with a sink in it and its right next door to a bathroom so we've got it made really. Hopefully we're going to be going to Ramsey St tomorrow and meeting the stars of the street tomorow night. We cant wait!! Take care, K & M x x 10/05/2005 : Oh my god!!! Yesterday was amazing. We spent the afternoon on a Neighbours tour. We went to Erinsborough High, drove past Global Studios where its all filmed and then we actually went onto Ramsey Street itself!!!! (Although its actually called Pin Oat Court!) We've got loads of pictures so look out for them on the website really soon. Last night we went to a pub called the Elephant & Wheelbarrow and went to their neighbours night that they hold every week. It was so funny. We got to meet Toadie, Harold, Steph & Dr Karl. Monica was in hysterics as shes had an obsession with Dr K for years!! He even got up on stage with his band for about 40 mins and sang loads of songs - very very funny!! Again, look out for the pictures - they're hilarious! We've just spent today chilling out (as we had pretty bad hangovers!) and wandering around the city. Its really nice but not as clean as Perth and we even think its bigger than Manchester! We went to the obsevation deck at the Rialto tonight to watch the sunset over the city. It was really nice and we got to see all of the major landmarks that are in and around Melbourne. We are going on a Wild West day tomorrow at a place called Sovereign Hill. They tell you all about the gold rush era and you get to ride around on a stage coach and dress up in traditional costumes AND you even get to pan for gold!! Its going to be pretty funny!! Then hopefully (if we arent too tired) we are going to go to the Crown Casino and get some practice in for Vegas! So another fun filled day for us!! Lots of love, K & M x 13/05/2005 : Well we've come to the end of our week here in Melbourne. Its really flown!! Sovereign Hill was a lot of fun. We went on a stagecoach around an old western style town, panned for gold (although we didnt find any so we think it was fixed!) and even met another celebrity!! Remember Father Tom Scully from Neighbours who had an affair with Susan Kennedy? Well he now works as a Victorian Red Coat at Sovereign Hill - so funny!! We went to the casino too but didnt win anything - god help us in Vegas! We spent today just having a last look around Melbourne. We went to see Captain Cooks Cottage, The Houses of Parliament and spent the afternoon watching a free jazz festival thats on in Melbourne at the moment! We are off to Sydney tomorrow morning so its off to do our packing and then an early night for us! We'll write again when we get settled in Sydney! Lots of Love, K & M x x
