The Kenyons... Oz side!!!!!!!!
Times flyin', seems only a few days ago since we arrived in Melbourne, but already 3 weeks have passed!!.
We spent a week in St Kilda, Melbourne, which is a top place!! We met up with a few friends who we have met on our travels. Shared a dorm with a seasoned traveller (the kind Slaz had warned us about!!), been travellin' for 10 years, crusty dreadlocks and not a clue on reality.... she had changed her name to 'Universe', say no more!. We went on a trip for a couple of days to Great Ocean Road and the Grampians which is quite spectacular. We also stopped at Bells Beach, but unfortunately we had missed the 50 year storm, so my set didnt come in!!!! From hear we visited the 12 Apostles, London Bridge and then off to the Grampians, where we nearly knocked over our first Kangaroo!
We then flew to Sydney, which we loved. We went to the harbour to see the bridge and the Opera house, another place that you only ever see on the telly. Visited the botanical gardens, to check out their herbacious perenials and winter flowering pansies!!!! After a few days here we were getting really excited 'cos we were meeting up with our Ash, Dave and Amy!! After a few light beers upon our reunion we spent a few days together in Sydney before starting our road trip.
So last Thursday we rented a car and set off on our magical mystery tour, up the East Coast, firstly stopping at Port Macquerie for a night. Here we saw our first Koala's, and little baby Koala's, obviously Gem wanted one, but with a little gentle pursuasion I managed to talk her out of the idea!
Next stop Byron Bay, which is full of 'crusties', 'hippies' and 'surf dudes with attitudes'. We had three days here, including Gems birthday, which was a messy affair after Gem and Amy had been on the 'goon' (strong boxed cheap wine), which they had been warned about! We went on a day trip to Nimbin, famous for its marajuana....... Included in the trip, we visited a bloke (hippie) from California, who emigrated 30 odd years ago and planted his own rain forest.... everybody's got to have a hobby!!!!
We continued up the coast to Surfers Paradise, where we chilled on the beach and worked on the tans!!! We then bombed on passed Brisbane to Noosa, which Andy Hall had recommended a pie shop which we've been unable to find... gutted, its beaut here and wish we could spend more time.
On Friday were off to Fraser Island then continuing up to Cairns. We're absolutely lovin' it here, all those places you lot have told us about we can now see for ourselves!!
Untill next time... miss and love you all!!!!
Oh!!!... and also Congratulations to mi Mum who passed her driving test the other day.... Nice one!!!!! you couldn't pop up to the house and sort the ironing out, could you!!!! (only kiddin!!)
We're missin' everybody especially so recently with stuff thats been going on back home, you know were thinkin' of you all!!!
Love to everybody... Rob & Gem xxx
