It's update time again folks..........
Since leaving the Cook Islands and arriving in Auckland the weather has been some what different.... but we dont mind because it reminds us of home.
We spent a few days in a wet and stormy Auckland, which we thoroughly enjoyed, but was ready to move on out of the city to hopefully better weather. We headed for Whitianga (pronounced Fitianga??????) on the Coromandel Peninsula which is a nice little coastal town, which I imagine is a wonderful spot in the summer!!! We watched the Ozzie and Kiwi rugby game in the local boozer, making sure we were in there for the early bar!!!!
We then moved on to Wiatomo, which has one road going through it and is famous for its gloworm caves which we enjoyed looking at. We walked the Wiatomo walkway and got absolutely drenched, but the scenery is unbelievable, it typical Lord of the Rings country, every where you look (Freddy you would love it!!)
From here we moved on to Rotorua which reaks of rotten eggs from the sulpher. We went lugging, which is basically sledging without the snow, which was a good laugh. In the evening we went to a Moari Cultural night, which we really enjoyed, me and Gem are gonna learn the Haka just in case we get in any bother!!!!!
We then moved on to Lake Taupo.... at this point we would like to apologise to our parents as they told us not to do anything stupid... however, we jumped out of a plane at 15,000ft which was the most exillerating/terrifying experience, but we absolutely loved it and cant believe we did it!!!!! Check the photo's but the DVD we've got is ace!!!!!!!
Lake Taupo onto Wellington, where we are at the moment staying with The Stanley family who have been such fantastic hosts and we would like to say thankyou so much for their hospitality (the roast dinner followed by cheese and biscuits was the highlight, I was more excited by that than the skydive!!!!!) Wellington is a great city the views from Mt Victoria are fantastic!!! We have loved our time here and are gutted to think we will be in a hostel tomorrow night and that we'll probably not have another roast dinner untill our return home!!!
Tomorrow we move on to the South Island where we are told the scenery is more spectacular than here and we may even get to go on the piste!!!!... then go skiing!!!!
Keep the messages coming, it's been 2 months now and we are really missing you all.
