Day 124, 125 - Adelaide - Friday 17th, Saturday 18th February 2012
We had a much needed lie in and dragged our lazy bones out of bed at about 10am. We had planned to meet Merle in the morning then go into town and onto the beach, so she met us in the hostel kitchen for breakfast. We had some toast then walked down the road to get the tram to the end of the line at the coastal town of Glenelg. We had a quick look around the shops then chilled at the beach for the whole day, the weather was great, sun was shining and the temperature was a comfortable 28 degrees. After a dip in the ocean, Stefan and Marielle showed up and we stayed there with them until the sun went in and then all headed back to the hostel. Soph and I had originally planned to go to the Adelaide comedy club but we were so tired we just skipped it and headed to bed.
Next morning we were up bright and early to check out and do the free walking tour around town. This was a 3 hour walk around Adelaide's suburbs and city with information and the history of Adelaide. We saw all sorts including some Banksy like art, the various churches and war memorials, the new and old bits of the town and the preparations for the forthcoming fringe festival (such a shame we were in town 3 days too early to see it!!). We ended in central market at the end of the day just as all the stalls were closing and so got some bread, cheese, grapes and chutney cheap. With that we headed back to the hostel for a late lunch and chilled until it was time to catch our 8.15pm bus to Melbourne
