Tuesday 12 April
6-15
Cloudy
l was up at 6.30 this morning. I guess it's because l went to bed so early. We went to see the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace this morning. We were told the changing was on at 10.30 so arrived at the palace around 9.30 only to find a sign inside the gates saying that it was on tomorrow. We were a bit bummed by that but waited around as last night l called a friend of Debbie's (Elise) who's living in London at the moment and she was meeting us at there at 10.So we caught up with Elise and told her about it being tomorrow and she was disappointed too because she's been living in London for 3 years and hasn't seen it yet. We stood around talking for quite a while and then we noticed more and more people were gathering around the fence. So we had a look at the sign again and the day had been changed from tomorrow to today! Lucky we stuck around as mum had wanted to go and get a coffee and come back tomorrow and it was also a bit annoying because we couldn't get front row views anymore but we did manage to see what it was all about. Mostly very pompous but a good tourist attraction and it was good to tick it off the list of "must see" things. I'm quite sure in days of old they didn't have a band playing while the guards changed over and l'm pretty sure it wouldn't have taken 45 minutes. So after the show was over we decided to have lunch at Harrods. We caught the tube to Knightsbridge and walked straight into Harrods where we had a scrumptious lunch together. We parted ways around 2pm, Elise going back home and mum and l back to the hotel. On the way to the hotel we booked tickets to a West End play called Bad Blood. It was recommended to us so l hope it's good. Later, Mum went out for a walk and l had a sleep. The weather is quite cold today which is not so bad if you're being a tourist and doing a fair bit of walking.
