We arrived at the port in southern Cebu after a pleasant, slow shipping boat ride from Siquijor and assumed that we would be withdrawing some much needed cash from the port, because, well, it's a port, right? Ports have practical amenities! This port however did not, and although we had enough money to get a tricycle to our accommodation, we did not have enough to actually pay for the accommodation, or our proposed trip to several waterfalls the next day. So we used much of the following day to take a boat over to the island of Negros, to find the most reliable cash machines. Needless to say, we were pretty bummed out over our poor planning, and it is a bit of an ego bruise to make what we consider a "rookie mistake" - failing to make sure you always have enough cash! On the bright side, for 2 nights we stayed in a dreamy tiny hut overlooking the sea, which reminded us of something that might be from, "Swiss Family Robinson - The Filipino Edition".
