…remember that there is a reason why you are only paying $10 CAD per night (our cheapest private room with bathroom accommodation we have had in the history of our travelling.) It means that although you booked it because it was in the centre of town and you assumed there would be some transportation options to get around the island, you will in fact be quite limited, and will end up wandering the town looking lost and forlorn for 3 days straight.

This San Francisco is of course not the one with the big Bay area, but is the name of the town and island that make up part of the Camotes Islands, just off the east coast of Cebu. The owner of our accommodation back in Mactan had recommended it to us, and so we decided to try out an island that is off the typical tourist trail in this area. And the one day we splurged to hire a tricycle to take us to the best beaches was definitely a beautiful day. But it was too difficult for us to get around sans motorcycle, and so we took the time instead to just chill, do laundry, and eat a lot of fried food and smoothies, which were the two most plentiful food options. So we have decided that we will need to start upping our accommodation budget and start scrimping somewhere else. This will probably start with less Cornetto ice creams, and we'll go from there.
