Cebu City 20th May - 21st May (Day 77 - 78)

hope you are well.

After a super chilled week of sun, sand and cheese/peanut butter sandwiches we left Phuket and headed for Cebu in the Philippines on a trip that would take us via Bangkok and Manila. The trip took about 24 hours in all and apart from not sleeping for 30 hours was relatively drama free. Once we had arrived in Cebu we checked into a cheap hotel in a pretty rough area of town near the docks and waited to meet our friends we had met in Laos (Amber and Cecilia) to arrive. Amber met us on the same day and Cecilia arrived from Cambodia 24 hours later.

Once Amber arrived we decided to look around, catching a jeepney to the nearest mall, which was massive. We also looked around the old town and new town. The oddest part of our short time in Cebu appeared when we were crossing a bridge in the rain, there were some fully naked young boys sliding around on their bums on the bridge, we even saw some putting soap on their bums first for maximum slide-age.

Once our Laos family had been fully reunited we did not waste any time in getting onto a ferry and heading off somewhere with some nice beaches and to get away from busy Cebu city. Within 40 minutes of Cecilia meeting us at the hotel we were on a ferry to an island to the south of Cebu called Siquijor.
