Teva's Travels
On the road in our sweet new car! Ronnie Rice Rocket is holding out nicely, despite Holly's pessimistic predictions about old Subie's. Loaded with more gear then we know what to do with and a funky man smell of guys spending too much time in it.
Set of from Merahau late Sunday morning, and after four beautiful sunny days Autumn decided to rear its ugly head in the form of torrents of rain. But no worries, were surfing, going to get wet anyway. Spent awhile driving along the coast looking for an accommodating place to stay for the night, almost buckled and stayed on a camp site, but the town was so depressing that we pushed on a within minutes found a sweet little spot and as if someone was looking out for us, the clouds parted and gave a stunning sunset. So the waves were a little messy, but we were there and hopes were high for better conditions in the morning.
So, way am in a nice, all be it a little ethno over-board hostel?
The rain came down last night, soaking our tents and not a break all day. We did get out in the water, poor surf but as I have little to compare it to I was stoked just to be out there.
So one night here, get dried up a maybe head east in the morning, the forecast is better, both weather and surf.
Its good to be with the boys, a bit intimate, but all disputes can be solved with a game of cards and any stupidity is immediately punished with 20 press-ups, as Holly and Barney have just done for locking their keys in the room. I'm sure it will be a good couple of weeks, providing we don't spaff all our cash on luxury accommodations and have to get jobs, but no point in avoiding the reality that we will have to bite the bullet sooner or later.
