Well, Long An turned out to be some rural town that felt like it was in the middle of nowhere. Hot and poor and dusty. Still, nice to actually see some trees. Saigon is like a jungle of tall and narrow colourful concrete buildings, narrow alleyways and a ridiculous amount of motorbikes. Howdy all. Just a quick update to let you know whats been going on. I've been out and about, had a holiday to Mui Ne (again) with my school, with the staff. All the other foreign teachers pulled out, so it was just me and a whole lot of Vietnamese. Turned out to be a lot of fun - a beautiful empty beach, some expensive-looking resort with comfy villas overlooking the ocean and lots of sunshine. And I was bitten by a monkey. G'day g'day, I'm still alive and well. Wet season has officially begun here, and its now pouring down in rain practically every day. I went out and bought one the of the massive motorbike raincoats. For some bizzare reason, the computer desk I am using in this internet cafe conducts electricty. So if I move my mouse too far to the left, I get zapped. And I keep zapping myself by accident, it bloody hurts! Only in Vientam... Anyway, next week in Vietnam is their equivalent of Australia Day. We get two days of holidays, yippee. From what I've heard, hoards of people leave Saigon to go visit their families, or to holiday in Nha Trang or something for a few day...
