I'm now at the 4th and final day in Santorini and I am really sad to be leaving this evening. The island is the most picturesque spot I have EVER come across, I don't think I'll ever see a more beautiful landscape than this place. Were staying in Fira where the cliff face is filled with white buildings sprawling down. Means lots of steps, but also a breathtaking view from the hotel room in the mornings!
The last 3 days have been a great chance to relax with cocktails by the pool but also to see some out-of-this-f***ing-world sights. There's always something to do here. We've walked the cobblestone alleyways of tavernas, bars and souvenir shops, had some of the best souvlakia we've ever tried at Lucky's (they knew us as regulars after a few days), rode a donkey up a cliff face from the old port (sad to see the donkeys are treated like absolute s***), taken in the views from Firostefani at night, taken a cruise out across the caldera and hiked to the top of the nearby volcano which formed Santorini as we see it today, swam out to hot sulphur springs formed from the volcano, slapped sulphur mud on our faces for a little Bear Grylls-esque natural exfoliating, watched the sunset in Oia which sets unobstructed on the water, gone out to ridiculous hours, hardly slept, met heaps of people from every corner of the world and bathed in the black sand beach at Perivolos. Heaps!
Cousin Nick got here yesterday so we all went and did watersports, donut rides, parasailing and jet skiing. We gunned the absolute s*** out of the jet ski on open water, perfect conditions and managed to hit 65-70km/h! Most of the time on the jet ski was spent off the water pulling sweet jumps. If I'm not getting a motorbike back at home anytime soon, I definitely want one of these babies!
Last night we went to Koo Bar, one of the biggest clubs in Santorini, and got home about 4 hours ago at 7am after a late night/early morning swim in the hotel pool. Australia really needs to lift their game in the nightlife category, this tiny little island doesn't sleep at all!
Later today i'm meeting with an old friend whose brother is getting married on the island, then Nick and I are heading to Irakleio in the early evening to meet with his friends there. I'm hoping Crete can match this flawless hotspot, but having been awarded the title of best holiday island in the world 2 years running, I know Santorini will be a standout destination on this trip.
Time for breakfast and a little Vitamin D!
Yeia!
