We didn't quite know what to expect when we arrived in the sleepy little town of Coffin Bay. It's a very quaint village, nestled on the outskirts of the Coffin Bay National Park.
All we knew about the place was that Jedd lived there, (Farmer wants a wife). Oh and yes we thought we saw him on the first night, but then Tara had a grand plan of stalking his Oyster Shed out the back of town. There he was... gave us a wave and we were off. Pretty sure we weren't the first to go and see where he worked.
Apart from Jedd, Coffin Bay was a beautiful little place. Very quiet, with stunning scenery and great fishing spots. We had been told by locals to check out the National Park. Although Tristan was grumpy at first about the $10 admission fee, we weren't disappointed by the stunning coastline and 4WD tracks on offer. The pristine sand dunes dotted around the park took you to another place. We both kept saying
you could be anyehere right now without even knowing it.
Another highlight of the park was seeing a female emu with her two young crossing the road... Larry managed to scare them off before we could get a good photo.
We walked the Oyster Walk (approx 10km) along the coast with a view of the Oyster Farms (so we thought!)- we were disappointed when we ended up at a dead end in the middle of the bush!
A note for next time... a roof top tinnie would come in very handy. The amount of fish being caught was amazing.
Coffin Bay... We were supposed to stay 2 nights, this was soon extended to a relaxing 5 nights. Finally some down time!
We will definatley be back again.
Next Stop- Elliston, SA then onto the Nullarbor.
