Hello fanclub,
well in the time we've sat idly by knowing we should have been updating this blog we've endured a twenty four hour bus ride from hell, riden around the rice paddys in Hue (vietnam) and treated ourselves 2 a few beers in Saigon. To be honest i was glad 2 escape Lao, where the pace of life was so slow you needed a tachometer 2 determine it was moving at all! Poor organisation left us on a bus bound for savereket about 150kms from the vietnam border (wen we sud have been crossing into vietnam), which arrived at 3am- leaving us 2 bed down on a comfy spot of concrete whilst we waited for the next bus all the way 2 the border! Vietnam by contrast seems far more set up for backpackers and far more modern. The people are friendly and funny and the country is progressive, we took a ride into the rice paddy fields around Hue, swam in the south china sea at Hoi An and drank more than we sud have in Saigon! Here, we visited the war remnants museam and the cu chi tunnels, both of which showed the commitment, sacrifice and hardship endured by the north vietnamese, which helped them win the war against the technologically superior u.s. We moved on yesterday 2 phoem pen where we visited the killing fields and the genocide museam, and yes, i appreciate that this is turning into an advert for prozac, but these sights have to be seen. 2moro we're off 2 ankor wat which sud be tremendous before flying off to the thai islands 2 learn how 2 dive! Take care and be warned, the next update will be written by juan, so watch out for any unfounded accusations of idiocy on my part! i'm just glad we're not keeping a quote sheet!! Best wishes tom.
