If the tree is in your garden, it gets pruned like so. Not sure if this is a fashion, culture, belief, or what. Wish I did, as this is all the trees look like if growing in peoples yards! All we can think is 'space constrains', perhaps why branches are trimmed so they fit into the tiny gardens...if there is any!
