So, after spending most of the day waiting around in Airlie with nothing to do but suffer a hangover, we got the bus at 7pm overnight to Rainbgow Beach!! After arriving early morning at Dingo's (our hostel and base prior to our Fraser Island safari) we spent the day looking around the place and getting briefed on the next few days adventure!! Next morning we were up early to set off on our safari. We got given a big Toyota 4x4 between eight of us... me, Tom...

That morning we headed to Peter Pans to book a boat trip, which we did... it would set off that afternoon! I also booked my Fraser Island tour and Kiwi Experience for New Zealand. Got a shedload of money knocked off which was good! So after packing a bag for the boat, we stored our main backpacks and headed down to the marina!! The weather, for the first time since Asia, was glorious!! Got on the boat at about 2pm and set sail for a couple of hours. Late afterno...

Arrived in Airlie Beach around 7pm, and Tom pulled his old trick of checking us into the first hostel he saw, without us comparing prices!!! Still, it was pretty nice so we decided to get up early and try and book onto a Whitsundays Sailing Trip the following day! That night we went out with the people in our dorm who had just finished their boat trip that day!

Arrived in Townsville after a couple of hours driving, dropped the car off and got a taxi back into town with a driver who found our close-calls with cows and kangaroos highly amusing!! Discovered there was a Greyhound down to Airlie Beach leaving within a couple of hours... so we booked on!! It transpired we'd have been stuck in Cairns much longer had we not driven or flown!!

Eventually found the caravan site we were being recommended to by the girls at The Lynd, and found the nice gentleman who owned it. Managed to get a caravan for the night at a pretty good price- though we'd have paid a fortune!! A quick visit to the toilet block before bed saw a toad jump onto my leg!! And some HUGE ones sat in and around the toilets!! We settled down for the night, before getting up early for the final leg to Townsville!!
