I found an Easter egg in the necropolis (cemetery).

This huge amphitheatre is the oldest among those known in the Roman world and was built in 70BC. It could hold 20,000 spectators and was excavated between 1748 and 1814. In recent years Pink Floyd held a concert there.

We spent 6 hours traipsing around the ruins of Pompeii. A 'bucket list' item for me - I've seen two travelling displays at home about Pompeii and have always been intrigued by the tragic volcanic eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79AD that buried Pompeii in ash and lapilli. The city was rediscovered at the end of the 16th century but explorations only began in 1748 and have continued ever since. A cross walk?!!! Yes, but many other things as well. The streets would have been flowing in wet weather so, yes, a cross walk. But as you can see there are wheel marks worn in to the cobblestones too.
