So kayaking to the capital in theory meant 1 hour kayak, 1 and half hours sitting on a rock while the guys cooked us a bbq and then a 20minute kayak before being dumped on a full on public bus for 2hours. Not quite the romantic adventure that we signed up for but i have a feeling the guy adapted the trip for us, a bunch of english girls. Still, the kayaking was fun- one girl fell out twice on the rapids and then got bitten by a fish- apart from that all safe and sound. The public bus was a bit of a nightmare. Evidently people in Lao don't like bus stops. Instead you just wave at the bus and it stops- every 30 metres!! It was fun being crammed onto the bus with a bunch of Lao'onians and a caged chicken! Really it is the only way to truely experience a country. Not had so much luck with public buses so far mind. Despite trying I my Camara is lost on a 4am bus to Vientiane (poor camara poor me). Heyho its only stuff, pictures were kool but never mind. Didnt stay long in Vientiene as the flight was booked for the following morning. Went out for a lovely meal with the girls and a english band played some kool oldies type music. Was good. Got up ridiculously early- 5am the next morning to catch the flight with Lao airlines. The lonely planet advises that Lao airlines is not recommended as it doesn't release its safelty records - ummm too late - it was fine- me and Laura sat by the window in the smallest plane ever- watching the propeller- it was there for the whole flight!!!
Have left the other girls in Lao as they made a mistake with their flights- Laura is stuck with me now- shame :)!
