After a long wait for the "no show" driver, we finally got a taxi to the train station where we boarded the train for Lucca. We arrived in Lucca and waited for a taxi in the rain. We arrived at our lovely hotel, Maison de Charme, another perfect location inside the Medieval walls of Lucca. We explored Lucca and finally settled for dinner at L' Oste Di Lucca.
In the morning, we had a lovely breakfast in our hotel before heading to Torre Guinigi where we tested Linda's acrophobia while climbing 235 steps to the top. This tower has trees growing on its 20' X 20' top which makes it a unique experience with spectacular views and well-worth the climb. After the climb, we walked the wall that surrounds the city. It is an amazing, beautiful look back in time and we're so glad we did it. We stopped for pizza and wine on the wall at San Colombano. After a short rest, we walked to the Piazza Anfiteatro for gelato and coffee. Tomorrow we're off to Monterosso!
