We left Flagstaff on September 6, flew all night and arrived in Reykjavik at 6:16 am on September 7. After a $150 taxi ride from the airport to our hotel (this place makes Monaco look reasonablly inexpensive) we walked the city until check-in then took a 4 hour nap before dinner. It is a beautiful, truly International city.

We woke up on Friday September 8 for Tony's birthday, jetlag free. We began our day by going to the top of Hallgrimskirkja for the view of the city. Next we went on the Golden Circle Tour and finished the day with a wonderful lamb dinner complete with birthday cake. Later that night we spent way too much money to see the Northern Lights but all we have are photos of the moon. In the end, Tony was older and we were poorer but we had a fabulous day.
