Not sure where I left off. Its been awhile and Im sorry, but have had limited internet. We were in Vienna and met a guy from Finland. I tried to remember Mary Had a Little Lamb, but had no luck. Any one remember? Nana would be very upset. Anyway we saw a large cathedral, St. Stephen's. I went down and checked out the catacombs and saw a lot of bones. We found a park with bean bags around a pond and we sat there and enjoyed a cocktail and some music. Amazing.
Then we went to Salzburg and stayed with Harry. Amazing. He cooked us gourmet dinners and cocktails and showed us around town. Ill never look at "Prosecco" again (inside joke). We had our own bedrooms which was awesome. Everything was so fresh. He works for a spice company. He took us hiking up the Alps. I made it. Probably only because he told us there was a bar at the top. The funniest part was i only had flip-flops. (I explained this situation in the previous blog). I guess hiking the Alps in flip-flops was not the norm because i definitely got some funny looks. On the way down it started down pouring and down hill in the rain was actually harder with flip-flops. A group of German's came running past, took one look at my shoes and started yelling "Flip-flop Mountain." Really! Then the next day i woke up and instead of taking my regular medicine i took a sleeping pill. Much of the day is a blur but im told we saw alot of interesting sites in Salzburg including places from the Sound of Music. If you didn't know, it was filmed there. I dont think Ive ever seen it. (Im not a movie buff) But when i get home i have a whole list of movies i need to watch that were based in places Ive visited.
Munich was fun. We went to see Neuschwanstein. Its the replica of Snow White's castle in Disney Land. I know I know Neuschwanstein was there first, but id like to believe otherwise. I didn't get to meet Snow White though. Im guessing its just her vacation home. She must be in Disneyland at the moment. We went to the infamous Hofbrauhaus and drank our liter beers surrounded by waitresses and men wearing the Lederhosen. The next day we went to Dachau, the concentration camp. Very depressing but everyone should go once. I did post a few pictures so be forewarned if you don't want to see. We got to go to the Paulaner brewery. They were not having tours but we got to have beer in the Biergarden.
On a sad note, Kayleen had to leave this am and head back to Phoenix. Her dad has been diagnosed with cancer. He's feeling good but starts chemo soon and Kayleen wants to be there to help. We will miss her terribly. We are keeping our fingers crossed and her family in our thoughts. And don't worry Kayleen we are coming back to do Italy and Greece. As Kayleen always says, "It is what it is."
Quotes of the Week:
Call the Joker. (its the German version of Call a friend on who wants to be a millionaire)
It's complicated. Your not blonde, you wouldn't understand.
Oh PS Cheryl- Your sewing kit came in handy for Steph's pants.

In Zurich, Switzerland. Of course on Sunday nothing is open. But we spent the afternoon laying in the sun by a lake at the bottom of the Alps. Can't be bad.
