Susan's Adventures
I arrived in Cairo today... Nightmare! They lost one of my bags. Great way to start off my trip...
They wrote the wrong flight details on the tag and it
went halfway around the world before it got here.. Never the less i got it back on thursday and all is good now.
So far i have not seen much in the way of the pyrimids and such things, but i will get there. My week has been full of seeing family and sleeping!!!
I think i am now fully recovered from my jet lag, but i have yet to become adjusted to the way of life here.
My sister linda has taken me out a few times to cafes and clubs, and i have been shopping a lot for warm clothes (it is actually REALLY cold here, i have no idea how i am going to survive England!!). I am living in Cairo at the moment (on the 18th floor!!) and the life here is very strange. They go out till very late at night, every night.. The shops generally don't open until around 3pm and they stay open till midnight. So i have been up till 3 or 4 in the morning most nights and wake up after midday (my kind of hours!!!). We have a maid and a cook that comes once a week to make a whole lot of yummy food for the week, its great i don't have to do any chores!!!!!
On the weekend (which is fri & sat here) i went to Alexandria (about 3hr drive) to see some more family and to do more shopping!! Everone is really nice here and as my mum and sister have apparently done a great deal of talking about me, everyone already knows everything about me!!!
I am only just coping with the language, i can't really talk enough
arabic to hold a conversation, but luckily most people can speak english.
The traffic here is nuts!! the rules are "there are no rules" if there
is a gap on the road you fill it, who ever gets there first goes and if you move over, the car next to you just moves out of the way.... there is no road rage and it actually works quite well. There is a lot of beeping though, just to alert the cars that you are there so they are aware...
Anyway, i am going away for the weekend, i have no idea where, all i know is that is it some kind of tourist resort type place that is about 6hrs from here!!! they have some kind of holiday here from thursday till monday this week, so i get to spend it with my sister and her friends at this resort..
It should be fun. When i get back i will be going horse riding at the pyrimids and to see the nighttime sound and light show there. Should be lots of fun...

I have been to the pyramids!! yay, they finally took me.. It was great, we went horse riding there and went inside tombs and stuff. Didn't go inside the actual pyramids, cause it way expensive and scary... got some cool pics, have a look in the photo albums...
Anyway, everything else is pretty basic and boring, i am getting really bored, cause it so cold here and everyone works, there isn't really much to do, except for shop.
I went to a place called 'El Gouna', which is a tourist resort type place. It was soooo cool there, a lot cleaner and nicer than the rest of egypt.. we just hung out at the beach (it was warm there.. yay), went to clubs and stuff. We hired a speed boat for an hour, that was the most excitement of the weekend.. got some cool pics too!
