Only two days later I went to see the Leningrad Cowboys at the Schlossgrabenfest in Darmstadt. The Schlossgrabenfest is the biggest music festival in Hessen and it is free of charge. It features several styles from rock music to electro, several stages around the chateau, local bands as well as international acts and a huge party mile with food and drink. So a nice atmosphere as the weather was good. The Leningrad Cowboys are funny and crazy in their costumes, but not really captivating or “close to the audience”, though there was a lot of singing and clapping to the rock versions of traditional songs like “Those were the Days”.
