Finally here! It was a relatively uneventful trip thankfully. Our first flight was 12 hours long and we were a bit delayed, which was fair enough but only left us with 20 or so minutes to catch our next 9 hour flight at the other end. But this was fine. Singapore Airlines is luxury on ice; shaken, not stirred. 80 films to choose from, comedy channels and multiplayer video games, what more do you want? Chocolate, I hear you ask? Well, snacks available to us at any time included pizza, galazy chocolate and pringles. Free wine. Decent legroom. Clean. The service - unbeatable. It really was a pleasure flying. Best flight I've ever been on. At our arrival in Auckland the customs officer i was friendly and chatty, I didn't get done for carrying crystalised pineapple (a worry of mine) and we got to jump on a water filled mat to sanitise our walking boots - splashing soapy water *everywhere*. MWA HA HA HA HAAAAAA!!!!! We caught a shuttle bus to the hostel and were pleasantly surprised again. Clean, friendly, comfortable etc etc. We're staying in a 4-man dorm and our 'roommate' nicked the duvet and pillow off one of our beds but we got a replacement in no time. We eventually hit the sack gone midnight (happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me....) Come 5.40am there is a fire alarm and we have to evacuate the building because - from what we could gather - a couple of drunkards broke the breakable glass on the fire alarmy things that are oh so tempting to press. We had some chocolate and went back to bed. Had breakfast of cornflakes. Yum. Ciao!
