After half a day in Coober Pedy I drove further south again. I made it to Port Augusta, before I stoped for the night. At the next day, July 5th I decided spontaneously to make a side trip to Kangaroo Island on my way back to Melbourne. So I drove down to Cape Jervis and jumped on the ferry to Penneshaw. I was lucky and I got the ferry at 6 in the afternoon, although I was booked in the ferry at 8:30. But there was still a free space on the earlier ferry.
The next day I drove to the west end of the island to the Flinders Chase National Park. The first thing I visited there was the lighthouse at Cape du Couedic and the admirals arch. Then I went to the remarkable rocks, a must see on Kangeroo Island. To relax I had a short walk in the National Park. Then I went to the Koala Walk. I saw some Koalas there and one of them was even a bit active and climbed a bit for me. I also saw some Kangaroos there and some Wallabies. On my way back to Panneshaw it was getting dark and there was really a lot of wildlife around. A nice place to see animals. But one day is definitely not enough for that Island. Nevertheless I got a good impression.
