Emma does South America
Hey everyone,
We have arrived!! I kow this is poor effort for my first blog entry but lots of ppl are waiting to use the internet so I´m going to bullet point a summary of the trip so far:
- Arrive in Santiago airport after two 9 hour flights and a 7 hour wait in Atlanta airport
- I found out I passed my exams in Atlanta so I def stay here and won't have to go home-hoooorah but couldn't even have a drink to celebrate in US so celebrated with ice-cream instead :-)
- We are staying in a lovely little hotel in the centre...randy and I ventured out in our jellies and short trousers surrounded by Chileans wrapped up warm for their winter (we were a TAD bit optimistic!)
- Had AMAZING food such as steak and beef strog for very cheap last night washed down with some delicious chilean wine
- then today we set off at 9 to drive to the andes to only do some skiing....in JUNE...hired some retro ski gear from a hut next to the road. We got to the ski resort to find all the ski lifts standing still and found out they weren´t actually open yet. So we walked all the way up the mountain in our ski gear which was hard work but the views were surreal, as though we were on top of the world!! And ALL FOR FREE! When I get a spare min I will put the pics up to show you what I mean. As we were driving back home there was the most amazing sunset- the sky a mixture of oranges and pinks- never seen anything quite like it!! Definately the perfect 1st day.
- Have just gone out for a chinese meal with the whole group and despite being knackered from the skiing day are going to drink wine and play cards...we are on holiday after all!!
- o yer and the group we are travelling with are really cool: mixture of kiwis, scots, americans, australians ranging from 23 to 72 years old!!
Anyway ppl are waiting to use the net so I better go. Sorry about the poor 1st blog entry. I´ll try and make up for it with the next one. Bye for now xx
