hi its ruth soory i havent written for a while but my fans will be happy to know that i am back and unedited so if you cant read my spelling asked cazz to translate. x
ok so what cazz missed off on her last blog was that we nerly didnt even make it to singerpoure. the nice people at statravel didn't tell us that to enter the country we need to show proof of how we were going to leave ie a plane ticket, which we didnt have. the only thing we could do was buy a refundable ticket out of singerpore and the cheapest one was to kualalumpa (which is where my credit card came in useful). the lady at check-in then said we would probably need an exit ticket from there to, we wern't happy. any way we didn't and we got on the plane, there was a guy there who had the same proplem we didnt see him on the plane, i dont think he had any money for a ticket.
we stayed in little india, which was a surreal place. on sunday night all the men came out to socialise with each other, there was absolutly no women about. the men would hold hands with each other in the street which wasn't a gay thing its just their way.i guess it was because there were no ladies to hold hands with.
i really liked it there it was busy and hectic with lots to see. the food was brill, we went to one restaraunt where you had to sit on the floor, which me and cazz both agreed is the best place to eat dinner. cazz had something bland and i had lental curry which did to me what only lental curry does natarally!.
Our hostel was more like a hotel in comparison to where we had been staying. we were sharing a room with a little girl and her mum. the kid was really sweet and refused point blank to talk or look at me or cazz, we ever tried to bribe her with a mc donalds barbi toy (cazzs), on the last day she came into the bathroom when we were in there and was to shy to walk past us so she peed in the shower and waited until we had gone so we wouldn't notice (i would of done the same thing).
we decided it would be a good idea to spend the day in indonesia and we did and it was brill and we did lots of exciting things - we didn't stay in the mall next to the harbour and go back after an hour (or buy new clothes because we had too much flesh showing)!
we really enjoyed singerpore and all the wounderful malls it has to offer. after spending a day adsorbing the local shopping culture in strange and unusual named shops such as gap and topshop we decided to take a much earnt break and went to the cinema's. we saw 'i am legend' and cazz shouted at me all the way through it cos aparrantly telling her it is a zombie move with killer zombies in it wasn't a big enough clue to warn her about the zombies. my fault sorry cazz! she really doesn't like jumpy films!
whilst we were there we went to a second world war museum (Changi) as cazz's grandma's fiancee had been a prisoner of war there and had died befor he could retern home. we both found it very moving, a lot of british soldiers died along way from home (an old lady came up to Cazz with tears in her eyes and said she was 9 when it happened and could remember it all - she's lived in America and just come back). we also went to the war graves and found his head stone, it was harrowing to see all the unnamed graves and to know very few had been visited.
we also went to china town which was just as hetic as little india but with a lot more vibrant colours. We went to a museum, which was nice. we then had some lunch i had sweet and sour chicken which tasted just like the take away at home. i dont know if i was happy or sad about that.
singapore is a strange place made up of diferent quarters (probably 4)! its almost as if it has lost its identity there are about 4 main languages so every one speaks english, which was great for us but very strange cos no one spoke in the native language. also all the advertising was centered around the west - the models were all white and blonde which was a bit sad. the best thing was the train system even i couldnt get lost on that (well may be).
on the last night we went out for a singaporesling which is a cocktail, which is very nice. we went for a walk arouned the raffles area which is the place to be seen apparently it was all a bit poncy but it was ok. With our lovely Montenegran friend Roberto (Ruth didn't write about him because he didn't like brunettes)!
any way will add more later i'm hungry. love to all.
xxxxx
