I arrived in Delhi airport to complete chaos, the queue for showing your Ebola paperwork to state which countries you had traveled from was the main culprit. A massive stampede with no organisation whatsoever, to be honest I don't think the people behind the desk were really that bothered, you could have been bleeding from every orifice and they wouldn't have noticed. Passport control had a slightly different approach with a totally carefree attitude.
I guy came to my room this morning asking me if I wanted a coffee, I said yes, he didn't want any money but he never returned so I'm not sure if he is going to be adding it too my room bill or was just completely useless.
I've met the group, there is only 7 of us which is better being a small number. Although they may have to put up with my camera. I'm the only British person, there is 3 French Canadians and a Ozzie, Romanian (residing in the uk) and a Russian (residing in NZ), so I right mixed bunch.
The first hotel seems ok, although my room only has one plug socket which has the tv connected to it and a cabinet covering the socket, I've rearranged the room so I can charge my phone. I caused some commotion over how to use the safe within the room too. The guy unconfidently showed me how to use it, but it didn't look like he knew what he was doing and then in the end there was 3 people looking at it. My biggest concern was they were trying to dictate the key code that I should use which seemed pointless for a security safe.
The tour leader taken is out to the old part of Delhi to visit delhi' sold day mosque Jama masjid and a Sikh temple (Sheeshganj Gurudwara). We took the train and then the underground tube, it was total mayhem. Delhi has 23 million people living here so it was rather cramped on the tube. The mosque was quite cool, although I was getting asked a lot by the locals to see if I wanted to be in a picture with them. I stood in for a couple and then decided that enough was enough as I was drawing more attention.
Had my first Indian meal in India and it was really nice. Spicy poppadoms with some chicken dish with something that was meant to be an onion bajhi but it wasn't quite how I managed to be. It looked like the contents of samosa but in a more liquid form serves in a curry dish.i noticed the standard of beer production is a bit sporadic too...alcohol content between 3.25 to 5%.
Leave tomorrow to head towards the Taj Mahal, I'm really looking forward to seeing the palace, could a highlight of the trip
