Steve and Lorna gallavanting around the world
Phi Phi was beautiful!!! We weren't sure what to expect after the Tsunami hit this place only a year ago! It was sad to hear the government offered no financial help to get this island back to paradise. They had plans to get rid of the budget travellers and build 5* resorts! Luckily the people of this island are absolutely inspiring. They have rebuilt this island themselves with help from cool westerners. It is beautiful. You could see where palm trees had been washed away and there was still some rebuilding going on, but in 1 year they have really got this place up and running!!!!!
We found out today that my mum is definitely coming. The flights have been booked and she arrives on 23rd! I really can't wait to see her!!!!!
Kate had booked us into Bantaai guesthouse. It was a hostel run by a cranky old bag! It was full of very young Swedes who kept themselves to themselves. Not a friendly place at all. I aven got accused of using too much water. How does she know how much water we use??? Peepholes??? Psycho come to mind???
Anyway, Phi Phi was beautiful. Gorgeous white beaches, beautiful palms and the friendliest people. There were crazy loud bars with the best fire shows and there were very cool, chilled bars. Something for every mood.
A highlight was when we hired a boat for the day. We went to Maya Bay - the location for the film 'The Beach'!!!! It was incredible. The other side of Phi Phi lay was full of blue lagoons and beautiful deserted beaches. Heaven. From here we went to the even more impressive Bamboo island! Gorgeous.
Tomorrow we leave for Phuket to pick my mum up!!!! Yahoo.
