Steve and Lorna gallavanting around the world
Bangkok is as you imagine. CRAZY!!! There doesn't seem to be any laws, especially on the roads. You get around by Tuk-Tuk (like the one in the picture), these things are dangerous! But strangely once you get used to breathing the fumes they are actually quite fun!
Tara AKA Beany (Lorna's cuz) met us at the airport and very kindly booked and paid for our first night at a very cool hotel right in the middle of the infamous Khao San Road. It was expensive at nearly 10 pounds a night! Even had a roof top pool, cool. We spent the first night drinking buckets (cheap whiskey, red bull and coke in a plastic bucket with 4 straws). These things get you wasted!!! Dangerous.
On a more cultural level, yes we do culture too. We visited the Grand Palace which was AWESOME, see the pics. Wat Phra Kaew where we saw the Emerald Buddha. And then onto Wat Po where we saw the MASSIVE reclyning Buddha! The temples here are absolutely breathtaking. We also visited Jim Thompsons (the American Thai silk entrepeneur that vanished in 1967) house which was also very cool, had possibly the best Thai curry, although it is very hard to get a bad meal here. Mmmmmmm.
Next we head by coach to Ko CHang an island off mainland Thailand. Beach here we come...
