Steve and Lorna gallavanting around the world
After our lengthly drive from Mosquito river area we made it to Dar es Saalam. A shabby city.. with loads of character I am sure.
We camped on the beachside - literally about 40m from the waters edge.. yup in our good ol' tents. Getting very used to and very good at setting up camp actually!
So after a very grubby week of dust and lots of it we made hast to the sea!!! Dived in and played in teh waves for an hour or two. Must say it felt fabulous to feel clean! the Warm Indian ocean was certainly well recieved by eveeryone in our group!
We are getting on so well with everyone. A mixture of many backgrounds - Ozzies, Kiwi's, Canadian, Swede's, Irish, British and me the only South African...
About 11 of us will be going all the way down to Cape Town. And majority of the group will part ways in Vic Falls.
Yesterday was a very early start (actually everyday has been early!!! 5: 30 am.... Great sunrises..need to see the positive out of this I think!..)
We drove from our beachside campsite to catch the ferry back into the port of Dar es Saalam. And then caught another "fast" ferry to ZANZIBAR!!!!
What a trip! Hot and windy! .. but after the 2 and a half hours at sea the heavens opened and what a down pour!!! We got into port and all of us were soaked to the bone! Not the nicest arrival to the Wonderful Spice Island!!! Though we saw the humour in it!
We then had to cancel our Spice tour of the island.. not good in the mud and wet so we had our lunch in Stone Town - lovely quaint town. Will be back in 3 days to get lost in the streets as they have so much character and certainly lots of tales! The details of the door frames and windows are beautiful!
Anyhow we then took our transfer to our beach side "resort" Anaan.
Oh my GOD!!!! Beautiful!!!
The mist Beautiful beach we have ever seen. Pristine beaches and waters that have about 8 different blues!
Amazing warm Indian waters and beautiful Zanzibar boats sayling by... Ahhhh this is luxuary!!!!
We went to the most amazing Bar last night that both of us have ever been to! Flet like we were on teh set of the "Beach" Movie. Bonfire on teh beach and the wqhole structure of the bar was of wooden boats and Uhmnnn wood and hamocks.
FABULOUS FABULOUS!
