Hi everyone!!
1stly thank you to everyone who sent me birthday texts, emails, facebook messages :-) nice to feel loved on the other side of the planet!
- So from Byron Bay we did a day trip to Nimbin, it was kool we went in an old bus and they played 60s music, on the way we went to a hippie market, and a kangaroo burger! mmmm. Its not bad actually, and before u think Im mean, they're acually more environmentally friendly than eating beef, so im doing my part to stop global warming! We then went to Nimbin, an old town filled with hippies, it was a kool little place, we went and had a bbq and to see some waterfalls (but it was too cold to jump in!!) That night we watched the masterchef final (its massive over here, i think they had to move the political debate because it couldn't compete!)
We had a long drive the next day, past surfers paradise and brisane, up to noosa, we stopped at the glasshouse mountains on the way, which were stunning :-) that night in noosa we just hung out with everyone on our bus, was a really nice group of people
The next day was a slow wet day unfortunatley, went for a walk through the noosa national park and saw my 1st wild koala!!! eeeee! We walked a bit of the coast, but then got rained on, so kinda retreated most of the rest of th day and sorted some stuff out,
The nexst day was a bit nicer and we managed to spend some time in the sun on the bech, that night we arrived, and got our selves sorted to go to fraser island!!
We did a 3 day self drive tour of fraser island, were you drive a 4x4 along the massive sand beaches, we actually ended up with the lead driver/tour guide, but that was nice as he told us loads about the island. To sum the trip was awesome, we went to various lakes and crecks and ship wrecks on the isalnd, and went swimming in the champagne pools (some pools by the sea where the water flows over rocks and bubbles up like champage) we had an amazing fun group of people about 20 of us, and just had a great time :-) and we didnt get attacked by the wild dingos there whilst camping, always a plus!!
Yeh this is a brief blog sorry running out of internet time!
That night when we came back from the island we all had a beach party
The next day we went to 1770, the only town in the world that is a number! Its a place that captain cook discovered when sailing australia (oddly enough in 1770) a nice chilled place, but we went on a motorbike tour of the town just to rough it up!! (most people get to drive them themselves, but I kept falling off due to my total lack of ability to ride a bike or balance, so I had to go on the back of the bike of the guy leading the tour!! hahaha, but I got a discount and he wasnice to chat to) we went and saw kangaroos and their joeys! Then we arrived at the actual town of 1770 for sunset, it was beautiful - they have very noisey birds...
The next day we drove a little away from the coast to a cattle station called Kroombit, a nice little thing thrown in on the aus experience, we got to spend the day as cowboys and cowgirls - tehe. We road horses and mustered goats from all over their property back to their pen, then learnt to throw a lassow and had a goat round up competetion where we had to lassow catch, and (fake) branding the goat... our team totally lost! but it was fun anway! We then played ring of fire, where we all stood holding hands and then we got shocked with a cattle prod, not as bad at it sounds honest!! Some people took it just by themselves... im not sure why.... That night we lernt to crack whips, ate their goats and cattle, and rode a bucking bull - it was a great random trip!!
The next day was an long all day drive to the whitsundays,we watched some films and played some games on the bus, and did some barefoot bowls as a stop on the way! haha, a very random activity, but it was free, I did feel like an old lady on a sunday afternoon though! Then we ate loads of icecreams! We had a few drinks in the hostel to say goodbye to everyone on our bus as we'd all been together on the bus for a while, but were probably gonna loose some of them for a while as we all had different length tours of the whitsudnays
And then it was my birthday!!!! We went on a 2 day 1 night sailing tour of the whitsunday islands, we went on the eureka 2 a nice proper racing sailing boat, we had a few less than 20 people on our boat, some from our bus and fraser islands trip which was nice, we got to help them raise the sails, and then we headed for whitheaven beach, it was the most amazing beach Ive ever seen! The sand was pure white, and felt so soft like flour! The sea was just amazing different blue colours, it was just fantastic, we swam in the sea and just basked in its beauty :-) We then sailed back to a bay where we could anchor up for the night and watched the sunset, we had nachos and roast chicken for dinner, and then we all had some drinks and played silly games to celebrate my coming of age, it was a hilarious night, and a perfect day :-)
Today we went snorkelling and saw all the amazing coral and fishes of the outskirts of the great barrier reef, the colours of the fish was amazing!! I cant wait to go diving on the actual reef now! We hadsome time just chilling on the deck of the boat and then saw a baby whale swimming right next to the boat!! amazing! we're now back on main land! Heading to magnetic island tomorrow!
