ALRAAAYT!!!!! WHAT A RIPPA!!!!! So ... you alright then? It's been a while! I finished my tour from Melbourne to Adelaide taking in the Great Ocean Road - and that was absolutely the most scenic road I think I've ever travelled on. We started the day at Bells beach which is a famous surfers beach and then we joined the Great Ocean Road which is literally carved in to the cliffs off the Southern Ocean and the views of the ocean and its coastline are amazing. Apparently Mercedes film their advertisements there! But, the first day, I couldn't believe it we stopped at a place called Torquay which is the home to all the surfing shops and as I walked out of one of them I bumped in to two of my friends from Africa!!!!! The last time I saw them was four Countries ago - How wierd is that! It was so great to see them and we had a quick catch up before I had to get back on the bus. So I was on a bus with a new bunch of people for the three day journey and there was a real mix of nationalities but I made some good friends and we all played Charades and drinking games and stuff. It was a bit strange Alex not being there but I got through it. I saw Koalas and Kangaroos and Wallabies and Ekidnas all in the wild in the Great Otway National Park so that was pretty cool! We also did a rainforest walk too. This was all on the 'Green Coast' of the road before we reached the 'Rocky Coast' where we saw the Twelve Apostles, just big eroded rocks in the sea - but they look good!
The following day we got up early to see the twelve Apostles at sunrise which was very picturesque - very nice, and we saw lots of other rock formations in the sea too. Then as the Great Ocean road ended we drove through the Grampians national park which is all forest. We stopped to have a walk down to 'MacKenzie Falls', a really nice spot where we could spend a while paddling in the stream and relaxing. Very nice!
Then the day after we arrived in Adelaide I went on a wine tour of the Barrossa Valley which was ok. It was part of my package so I thought I might as well go on it. I went to Jacobs Creek winery along with a few others and, again, it was a nice scenic day - great landscapes - great views. I saw the Worlds largest Rocking Horse - although it doesn't rock! But you could buy rocking horse s***!!! I also ate my first Kangaroo! Not a whole one, it tasted of curry! Then we went to the 'Whispering Wall' which is just a curved dam wall. It was really good you could have a conversation with someone at the other end by just talking to the wall and the sound travelled along it - pretty cool. I've gotta tell you this though! I met a ' t*** in a hat'. I s***e cowboy hat! He was tasting wine and saying he could taste s***ting mulberrys and asparagus and gooseberrys and s***! No you can't you twat! He was trying to impress this girl he was sat with on the bus, who really wasn't interested. I was sat with her sister. At the end of the tour we were all getting dropped off and he asked this girl if he could take a picture of her, she clearly wasn't impressed but was too polite to say no. And you just know that when the t*** in the hat gets home he's gonna show this to his mum and say 'this is my girlfriend'! I must admit, although I've met some really really great people - I have met some t*** !
Then the day after that I went on my three day Kangaroo Island tour, it's Australias third largest island and I had a great time there! We started the day off at Middleton beach which is where I learned to surf - I am now officially a 'COOL DUDE!' - I don't think so! you aint seen nothing like it! I was useless, even if I did manage to stand on the thing (which was only twice!) I fell straight back off and got a crack on the head each time. But I did my David Hasselhoff bit and ran along the beach in my surf gear!
So, after surfing we caught a fishing charter boat to the island which lasted about an hour and we saw dolphins swimming in the sea, then we set up our camp at this farm house in middle of nowhere. It was ok there, I was the only person from the UK, there were some Swiss girls, two Italian girls, some dutch lezzers, some German girls and a German lad. But they were all ok and we all got on and had a laugh together - they could all speak English really well - better than me in some cases. We drove to 'Flinders Chase' national park where we saw the 'Remarkable Rocks' on the coastline which are just some more eroded rocks, they too looked really good though! Oh and I went sand boarding as well that was a laugh! We also saw some 'New Zealand Fur Seals' and some Sea Lions - the dirty pigs!
One of the nights there, the group went off to have a look at some penguins, I couldn't be arsed so stayed back and collected fire wood for the campfire. I shat myself!!! Here's me in the middle of nowhere, no-one around apart from some mad axemen and wild animals - walking about with a s***e torch looking for wood - I thought b******s to this, grabbed a few twigs and ran inside to read my book. Oh yes, I read books now - this travelling lark has turned me in to an 'Intellectual!'. My reading material ranges from Nelson Mandela to Ben Elton! Oh and FHM!
Anyway - so that was my Great Ocean Road tour! I'm actually writing this a bit late, all this happened just over a week ago but I haven't been able to access the internet for a while as I've been stuck in the Outback - cos they've had the worst rainfall and floods for fifty years!!!! That tour was amazing - I'll tell you about in my next update. And hopefully when I look at my photos and upload them I'll be able to remember some stuff, cos I know I've missed loads out. But I'm rushing a bit I've gotta run to Laundrette in a minute before someone half inches me keks!
That picture's of me surfing by the way! What's been happening???
