Stephen's Travels!
Hi All.
Sorry its been a while. I have been a bussy bee.
So I left San Fran and headed to Canada. The flight was bad and really bumpy... I have never really been a scared flyer but the more I fly the more I detect weird noises and this flight was scary. Any way I arrived in Vancouver and made my way to my hostel. It was really central but an absolute dive! My room on the first night was smelly and I was right above the glowing sign that hung abive the street so I got no sleep with that and the noise and when I went for a shower I found a comdom on the floor (not in the packet... to put it a bit nicer). The next day I moved rooms to a much better one.
I called Kelly who is a girl I met on the Kiwi Experience and who lives in Vancouver and she kindly offered to put me up for 5 nights. This was great and i got a nice double bed and some nice food from kelly's mum. Kell had a few days off and we did fun things like a water park and a fun fair. The rest of my week was spent catching up on sleep and washing laundry at her house. Not to forget a couple of great nights out.
On the Saturday my lovely mum once again flew out to spend 2 weeks with me. I was all for it when she said that Canada was a place she wanted to see and It was great to see this beautiful country with her.
We started in Vancouver and then took a Greyhound bus to Whistler...This place was so nice. Its a ski resort in the winter but its set in between mountains and had a great vibe to it. I could see my self returning there in the future and its definately a place i would have liked to spend more time at. From Whistler we took another very long overnight bus to Jasper which is in the Rocky Mountains. From Jasper we took coach tour through the Rockies visiting lakes and mountain towns and a Glacier. The Rockies are so amazingly beautiful and like NewZealand it looks like a postcard everywhere you go. We ended the tour in Banff where we spent a few days soaking up all the scenery and enjoying more of a chill out pace. Saying that we walked sooooo far everyday. From Banff we took a flight to Toronto where our georgous hotel was waiting for us! It was the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in and we had a room upgrade to a big suite. We took advantage of the room service and films on offer as well as doing the sights in this cool city.Niagra Falls was a great day and we got soaked on the boat trip under the massive gushes. We also went to visit the Batta shoe musium and whilst there the street we were on got closed off and filled with loads of police, fire, medics and bomb squads...Some guy in a taxi had said that he had a bomb and was going to set it off. So we were stuck for 2 hours waiting whilst they tried to get him out and give himself up. There was so many news crews there. It was well exciting. In the end they tear gassed him and made the arrest. Saying this it felt a really safe place and Toronto is another place I could see myself visiting again for a longer period of time.
Today Mum flew back to England and I myself to Boston before my return. Canada has been amazing and Im glad i included it in my travelling.
