Our aim was to visit the historical site Port Arthur, so we rented a little "cabin" on White Beach....and had the whole beach to ourselves. It was quite spectacular but far too cold to swim. After checking in, we booked ourselves onto the Ghost Tour at Port Arthur, 10 minutes away. We duly turned up and spent the evening being guided around the spooky church, asylum and surgeons house. Didn't see any ghosts but it was quite eerie all the same. We went back the next day as there is quite a lot to see, it was a prison site for convicts who were shipped here in the 1800's.

I was shocked to find out there was a massacre here in 1996, a gunman opened fire in the cafe and killed 35 people. In 8 minutes.
