Rio de Janeiro - River of January - has been a very exciting place to start our travels.
The local people (known as 'Cariocas' - from the Quechua word meaning 'people who sing along to a backing track') have been kind and friendly, not to mention patient with my pathetic attempts to speak Portuguese (mainly involving me lapsing into bad Spanish).
The highlight has to be us paragliding/hangliding over Tijuca National Park onto São Conrado beach followed closely by the view from Pão de Açúcar (the Sugar Loaf). The cablecar up to the top of the Loaf (the 'Loaf Car' as I imagine the locals call it) was once the setting for a fight between Roger Moore as James Bond and Jaws. I also understand that Walt Disney once took the cable car. Although presumably he gave it back later.
Looking forward to Foz do Iguaçu tomorrow...
Apologies for the stupid blog.
