Squirrel on tour
3 day trekking in Chiang Mai.
Well where to start. Sorry its taking so long to update, mountains to climb, cocktails to drink and tummy's to brown and all that. The trek was unbelievable. Anyone venturing to Thailand in the near future has to do a trek. Tough on the legs at times but definitely worthwhile. Beautiful scenery, fab company, all in all an unforgettable experience.
The first day we got to ride the elephants which was really cool. After the elephants we set off for a 3hr trek mainly up hill! It was really cool..challenging in parts but but the scenery was spectacular. Half way we stopped to have a little swim in a waterfall. After a well earned rest we walked for another 1hr or to are camp for the night, which was situated in a tribal village in the mountains. Are hotel for the night was called billion star!!! Well not exactly a hotel but a hut where we could watch the stars all night. I even spotted my first ever shooting star.
The second day was alot more demanding on the old leg muscles- all up hill but worth it when we reached are highest point of the whole trek 1500 meters. Pretty much like the first night we stayed in a hut but much more basic than are first night. It was so peaceful as it was right next to a waterfall.
The third day was less demanding walking wise. Well it was mainly down hill but because I didn't have walking boots I spent most of the time sliding down, which was a bit hairy when u have a sheer drop right next to u!!
After only 2hrs of sliding we reached a "meeting point" where we were collected my truck to have a nice relaxing time bamboo rafting down a river..ha'ha'ha. Relaxing yea right...it was packed with laughter. There was 4 to a raft (Me, Sam, and to ozzie girls we met..Kalista and Alex). Us girls ended up with the crazy driver (don't think u call them drivers but hey u know what I mean..Lol). Basically we capsized!!! As are clothes were soaking wet Kalista and I, O and the driver decided to stop off half way down the river and jump off the cliffs into the water. Pretty cool stuff.
The 3 days trekking had sadly come to an end far to quickly. However I think every person on the trek was looking forward to civilization and for some food that wasn't rice and a shower (as we hadn't seen one of those for 3 days!) At least the engrained dirt made me look brown :)
P.s witnessed a frog being munched my a snake..eeekk :(
Hope your all well. Next time I will be updating my journal I will be in paradise..Phi Phi Islands. Until then take care.
