Not a good start of the day for me. I woke up with my right eye swollen and itchy and it got worse as the day continued. To make it even more fun bright lights (IE SUNLIGHT) makes it even worse. We pulled off the dock at 8am, and headed directly into sun and glare on the water. It was a long tough ride to Deltaville.
There was not much going on in Deltaville but the marina did have a loaner car which we used to go to the grocery store. After stocking the boat, I cleaned the starboard side of the boat. Unless I launch the dinghy I can only clean the side of the boat that is next to the dock, and I can only do that when we are docked at a long pier. Most of the docks only have short finger piers. At Yorktown, I cleaned the port side, now both sides are clean. The bow of the boat had what we call the "loopers mustache" it is a brown stained on the front of the boat from the rivers. When we return the boat is going to need a very good cleaning and waxing. The trip has definitely taken its toll on the boat. After cleaning the boat we headed to the pool. We ended the day with docktails with Mark & Karen (Kay Dee) and Ed & Cathy (Just Another Day). During docktails Mark & I took a quick bike ride, (well not so quick we used the marina's old fashion pedal bikes) to the marina next door. Steve & Jane (Sabbatical) had their boat pulled out of the water to have some work done, while they went home for a couple of days. Mark wanted to put a Kay Dee sticker on their boat just to mess with them. Mark & Karen have boat stickers that they put on lock walls and at marinas to show people they have been there. It is not the first Kay Dee sticker on Sabbatical, but they got new stickers with the new boat and wanted to "update" their sticker.
When we got back to the boat, the real fun started. I went outside to take the garbage to the dumpster and saw the wind was picking up. I changed plans and started to close the isinglass on the helm. I barely got the first window zipper up, when the wind went crazy, then came the thunder, lightning and heavy rain. As I was finishing that up the lights on the boat went out. At first we thought it was just our boat until we looked around the marina. Power was out everywhere. We spent the entire night without power, even when we left in the morning the power was still out, but at least the weather had cleared up.
Our next stop is Solomon Island MD.
