Day's 42
Dunkirk NY - Erie PA
Start 7:15 am
End 11:45am
Underway 5 Hours
Distance 41 miles
Av Speed 8.5 knots
Today's trip was very uneventful, but very rainy. It was pouring rain most of the time we were underway. I prefer to keep the helm open and not use the isinglass, but with the weather forecast, it was either put up the isinglass or stay put. We opted to use the isinglass and head out. . Even with the rain Lake Erie was very flat and it was an easy ride.
After five weeks in New York, we have finally left, and now we are back in Pennsylvania. Our goal was to anchor out in a very protected cove in Presque Isle, Erie PA with a few other boats. Because of the rain, we decided to head to Wolverine Marina.
One short coming of our boat is the battery bank does not last long. When we anchor out, we rely on either solar power or running the generator. With the rain solar was not an option and I did not want to run the generator all day.
We could of stayed a couple of nights in Erie, but we made plans to meet other Loopers in Cleveland to visit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday. (remember never have a schedule on a boat)
Tomorrow we head to Ashtabula Ohio.
