On Tuesday we traveled from Little Falls, NY to Utica NY. It was a short travel day. Other than 3 several short periods of heavy rain, it was a nice day to travel. We did get lucky that it did not rain while we were in the locks. (What that meant was only I got rained on. Angel goes down below when it is raining.) We can enclose the helm with isinglass, but unless it is going to be cold or rain heavily all day, I prefer to have the helm open.
One advantage about it not being a good travel day, is there was very little boat traffic and we were the only boat in each of the locks. It also seems that we really got this locking thru down pretty well. It was definitely the easiest and smoothest we have done the locks.
We spent the two days in Utica visiting my mom. With Covid behind us it was nice to be able to visit her. One of the perks of of having family along the route is being able to get packages delivered. It started with getting the circuit breaker to fix the windlass fixed, and quickly grew to getting to electric bikes and accessories and mail delivered.
Next stop either Rome or Sylvan Beach. We will decide when we are underway.
