The run to Fernandina Beach was very uneventful were once again we traveled with Mark & Karen (Kay Dee) and Jim & Norma (Dorothy Gale). Docking at Fernandina was very much like docking at Bordentown Yacht Club, parallel to the dock with a 6 knot current, I felt very much at home. The only weird part was they had me come in 20 feet in front of the boat behind me, then walked me back. If they just told me where they wanted the boat to be, I could have just landed it there. I guess most people are not use to docking with such a current.
The next couple of blogs are not going to be very long, were are only staying at the marinas one night and moving on. Fernandina Beach is one of those stops. The only thing we did here was to meet with Peter & Sandy (Tipsy Turtle), who are Gold Loopers that now live here. Gold Loopers are boaters who have completed the Loop. Peter and Sandy met Mark & Karen during their first loop, and joined us for dinner in town.
Other than dinner the only other thing we did in town was to stop in the Palace Bar, the oldest bar in Florida for a drink. We might have stayed for more than one drink, if the music was not so loud and awful. We did meet a gentleman in the bar that was walking up to tables and singing to people. He was a great singer, it was a shame that they did not let him entertain us for the night, we might have stayed.
When we leave Fernandina, we will also be leaving Florida. Our next stop is Jekyll Island Georgia. As beautiful as Florida is, after 4 months here I am ready to move on.
