Torres Del Paine 2/02/2014 We spent the first day in the Torres Del Paine National Park on an 8 hour hike to see the three giant granite peaks, with amazing scenery along the way - wide valleys, streams, snow-capped mountains. Wow. The only glacier in the world that is in a state of equilibrium rather than receding, as there is enough snow to compensate for the amount of ice that melts. It stands a massive 60m above the water on average, and 5km wide. It's really hard to comprehend its size as you watch pieces of ice breaking off - some look tiny yet the sound they make as they hit the water suggests otherwise. We made a trip to the Recoleta Cemetery before leaving Buenos Aires. We didn't have enough time in BA to see everything we wanted to, but we didn't want to miss this as it has been named one of the best and most beautiful cemeteries in the world. It is amazing.
