So we arrived in Vang Vieng and found somewhere to stay. It was really basic and I didnt really like it as it seemed we could get better for money so we only stayed one night. On our first night we went out just for some dinner and we were going to get an early night and rest up before we went 'tubing' down the river the next day. Things didn't really go to plan and we ended up getting a bucket of whiskey, red bull and lemonade with our dinner. This was only because they said that you could get it free with the right throw of a dice 1 -3 = full price, 4-5 half price and 6 = free. I predictably through a 2! oops! so then when that one was finished Michael of course had to show he could throw a better dice and he got a 4.
We went to a couple more bars and got some more ludicrously cheap buckets and met the girls we had seen in Goa. They told us that in Goa they called us 'the Goa couple' which was funny. It was good to actually finally meet them and we had a really good night out with them. We ended up at some place over the river that is the only place open late. Good fun!!!
The next day we checked in to a nicer place, still cheap but with TV, thank goodnes, as we were both feeling a little rough. We watched 6 films and nothing else.
Finally on our second day it was time for 'tubing' which basically involves getting dropped off at a bar on the river and then swimming/floating in a tube (or childs rubber ring in our case) down the river to the next bar - 5 bars in total! IT is so much fun and I cant imagine them getting away with doing it anywhere else especially at home! We met up with the Irish girls and had a really fun day and met them for dinner and drinks in the evening too! The next day was another recovery day....not cut out for it at all!
We got the bus to Vientiane, planning to go straight on to Vietnam but I was ill again with poorly tummy so we had to spend a couple of dull days there whilst I got better!
