Day 8 Sat -3rd Nov Fly to Kochi from Delhi
Russ and I are the last to check out at 13:30 which gave us time to breath enjoying the pool at the hotel before our driver picked us up to head to the airport. When we enter the lobby to checkout, a transfer guide is there waiting for us and takes us to the car. He does everything for us when we reach the airport, checks us in, sorts out issue with extra weight which we have paid for and makes sure we are happy to go through to security. The service of the Kouni Ground Agents has been incredible.
The flight has been delayed from 17:00 to 17:50 and gate change. I spot Krispy Creme stall and purchase my favourite for the 3.5hr flight to Cochin having realised we have not eaten since breakfast.
We are in the minority on the plane, I am not feeling too good so eat my donut thinking it is probably due to lack of food. Feel better for a while but then just sick. This was not helped by going through the worst turbulence we have experienced. I thought our time had come, the plane shuddered, it dropped, our stomach’s with it, we squeezed hands terrified, not sure how long it went on for but seemed like forever. All in all not a pleasant flight at all!
As we disembarked the heat hit us, completely different to that of the north, hot hot hot! So humid, we were in an instant sweat!
Being an internal flight we go straight to retrieve our cases and I have spotted our next Kouni rep waiting for us. Everywhere we have been everyone is so friendly. A guy asks me where I am from and we chat whilst Russ waits for the cases. He has broken English but we manage a conversation and few laughs.
Our escorts us to the car and also to the hotel to check in for us. We are thankful to be inside the air con car. The journey takes 1.5hrs, the longest I have experienced in a long time. I hungrily ate a packet of crisps my stomach grumbled taking in some water which has been provided for us. Not long after I start to feel quite sick. The constant winding through traffic to overtake, braking, accelerating, dodging in and out makes me feel so sick. I get to a point where they have to stop, we pull over, I try to decide if I am going to be sick. Russ explains I don’t travel well in the back and I am invited into the front. We carry on another half hour and I have to stop again, this time collapsing and vomiting. There is much concern and even more when the rep checks in for us. I thank them and as soon as the hotel owner opens our bedroom door I collapse on the bed and don’t move until the next morning. Russ looks after me, sorting chargers, PJ’s etc, water, tablets, he is a star.
