Hello!
Welcome to my blog for my Scandinavia Tour 2015. The travel bug has struck again and I'm heading to Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and France for 3 weeks with just my rucksack for company.
I am currently sat in the departure lounge with my second pint of San Miguel and a bag of Nobbies Nuts.
Yesterday was the last day of term and my final day at The Oaks. Saying goodbye was very emotional and leaving such amazing children and colleagues was tough! I more or less cried all day from my morning shower to walking out the door at the end of the day. I was overwhelmed by the very generous gifts from everyone at The Oaks and immensely proud of my Year 6 children after a brilliant end to the year. I will always treasure my memories of The Oaks; starting in Y3, WW2, Eureka and Cadbury World trips, Choir performances on amazing stages, reaching out to the world through blogging and endless laughter and fun with my friends on nights out! Not forgetting the hard work, determination and effort put in by my two Year 3 classes and Year 6 class. My time at The Oaks was special but it's time to move on...
On the 22nd August I will start a new chapter of my life as I move to live in Dubai for a minimum of 2 years! I will be teaching at GEMs Wellington Primary School and know that it is the right time to make the move. I have always wanted to teach abroad and cannot wait to live in such an amazing place surrounded by a buzz and hopefully like minded people that work hard and play hard! For now though, it's time for a rest, time to explore and tick off a few more places on my quest to see the world! "If I don't go... I'll never know!'
My flight has been delayed and there is only so many times you can scroll through your Facebook News Feed! Tonight I land in Rygge, Norway and have to make my own way to Oslo city centre. It could be pretty tricky if it gets much later but I'm sure I'll sort something out. The feeling of being away with just my rucksack is amazing and I'm excited to explore in the next few weeks. Tomorrow I'm joining the Top Deck tour called Scenic Scandi and look forward to seeing new places with other young travellers.
I will keep everyone updated on what I am doing and where I am via this blog and hope everyone has a great summer! Finally, thanks again to everyone connected to The Oaks for a wonderful send off yesterday.
