Trip to Canyon De Colca 4th/5th November A 2 day trip by small mini coach up to the Canyon De Colca, the second deepest canyon in the world - the deepest one also being in Peru. The Colca canyon is twice the depth of the USA Grand Canyon as the photos just don't give any real perspective of depth. Saturday 3rd November Took an early morning flight from Lima to Arequipa on a low budget airline StarPeru. Arequipa is Perus 2nd largest city with a population of around 1 million. Checked into my hostel and got given the shed in the back garden! (refer to photos). Hi, Just a quickie note to say got here to Lima in one piece. Long flights via Madrid and so in the air 16 hours in 1 day. Totally knackered. Taxi from Lima Airport to Hostel which I think is about 10 miles and 40 mins was $8. The 5 min taxi at heathrow this morning was 3 times this! Still looking at the cars here no one has ever heard of an MOT! First impressions is that Lima is like a really run down Spain meets Mexico. Will get a better insight tommorrow and...

Hi Everyone, Just finishing the last planning details for the trip and set off for Peru, via Madrid on next Thursday 1st November. Then its 2 weeks in Peru, 1 week in Brazil, 1 week in Argentina and 1 week in Chile. Leave Chile for New Zealand when I then spend 3 weeks.
