12/8/10
I woke up at 5:30 am and went down to check my email with my flight confirmation email on it and yep my flight was not till the next day. I was glad since I was still very tired but I paid for another night stay and headed back up to my room. In the TV lounge on my floor a couple of the guys I had gone out with were talking (Spanky..nickname for the French guy who's name in French means William) and Ollie who is from the UK.... they had just gotten back from the club and were fairly drunk and talking about who know what. I chatted with them quick and went right back to bed.
I slept until like 10am.....ahhh yeah
Then I went to head to town and while waiting for the Tram I saw a big storm front moving in and searched my bag to see if I still had that poncho that I had bought for the Stereo Sonic festival and I was happy to see it n my bag. No sooner did I get on the tram did it start to down poor......so much for my plan of walking around the parks and seeing the city by foot. I ended up chilling at McDonalds and had lunch and used the free WiFi while trying to wait out the rain. The rain did stop and I headed out to see some of the city. I ended up at the Melbourne Aquarium which was very interesting. The had a exhibit of penguins which I found interesting. I was good to see all the types of jelly fish and some of the strange salt water fish that I was not able to see while scuba diving. The next stop on my tour was the Eureka Sky tower for the largest viewing deck in the southern hemisphere. The elevator ride took 38 seconds to the top and the views of the city were great. They had an extra charge where you could go out on a glass edge but it had started to rain again and the visibility was not that great. I was able to see the park where the Jack Johnson concert was going to happen that night. I was hoping to go and see if I could get a ticket otherwise I would have got the ticket to see the city in the day and come and see it again at night.
Went back and ended up bumping into Kevin who told me that Penny had gotten hurt last night. I did not believe it but it turns out that her knee ended up popping out of socket on the stairs or something so they ended up going to the emergency room and did not get out of that place until 6am. I went and talked with her but I could not help but laugh and giggle at the situation. She did not know what to think of me and I could not stop laughing....the situation was funny at least to me and she was not in that bad of shape but she was on crutches and complaining about how long she would need to get ready to go to work the next day. I then decided that rain or no rain I was going to get changed and see if I could get tickets to go to the Jack Johnson concert which was only about a 10 minute walk from where the hostel was at.
I wore my poncho as I walked to the park in the rain and when I arrived I went to the ticket office and found that tickets were still available so I ended up getting a seat under the roof structure. I was blown away at how good of a seat I ended up with I was like 11 rows back and just like 4 seats away from being dead center stage....CRAZY, oh and I was dry as everyone on the lawn was being drenched. The guy next to me also bought a single ticket and his name was Zach and he was an Aussie and seemed like a pretty nice guy. The concert was amazing I was very glad that I went.
Off to bed at a reasonable time since the next morning I had to catch my flight to Sydney and I had to leave the hostel at about 6 am to go catch the shuttle to the airport for my 8:15 am flight.
