12/4/10
I woke up early and read outside for a while, checked internet, and looked into the possibility of canceling my flights I had booked to Melboourne and then to Sydney so I could stay traveling with my new mates Jeppe and Stacey.I found out that I would lose my money if I did decide to cancel since I booked it on the cheap, that is what I figured so I was not too surprised.I was thinking about just not going and stay traveling with Jeppe and Stacey but the other problem is that somehow I still needed to make it to Sydney by the 10th to catch my flight to New Zealand. It looked like I would stick to the original plan.
I then went to visit Natasha at Quenchers and was able to meet her husband and son.....it was raining out by then and generally crappy out.I had a very nice visit at Quenchers and I got a juice and a breakfast wrap and both were very good.I had a good time visiting with them and they seemed very happy.I was also able to hear some about the travels they did in a camper van for a few months when they first arrived in OZ.
I went back to the room and it was about time to check out at 10 am and the car had gotten a flat tire since yesterday parked behind the hostel. It had rained a bunch this morning so the ground was wet but luck would have it stopped so Jeppe could change it and throw the full size spare on it.It turns out he had checked the spare only a week ago and found that it was flat with a nail in it and so he went and got a used tire to put in its place in case it would be needed. He had that changed pretty quick with minor help from me.We then headed off to get the tire repaired at a local shop. They said they would have it done in an hour.We went back and parked at the mall and headed to the T-shirt shop.We picked out T-shirts and our designs for the front and back and paid and he said he would be finished in tow hours. We then went and picked up Lena after we got the tire back and the guys at the shop were nice enough to change it out for us for free with the spare in two minutes or so.Everyone else was hungry so we sat at Subway and ate while Stacey tried to find us someplace to stay that night in Brisbane. She ended up finding us a place a bit out of the city but it was a 4 share room so we would have a room for just the four of us traveling together.
We left a bit later than planned since the T-shirt guy got busy with other stuff but his work turned out very nice.We were happy and were excited to give them to the others. The trip to Brisbane was pretty quick like two hours or so and I am not just saying that because I slept for a good chunk of it.We arrived at our hostel which seemed pretty nice and we found out that they didn't have any more 4 shares left so they gave us a 6 share but were just booking the four of us in it.The room was very nice we had a little balcony, mini fridge, TV, and our own bathroom with shower for a hostel that is crazy nice.
We got in contact with Richard and Caroline and asked if they wanted to meet up for dinner that night. They did and Inge and Judith were down for meeting up later for drinks but they were going to do dinner on their own.
We meet up with Richard and Caroline first after we took the hostel hourly bus to the city.It runs every hour on the hour from like 10 am to 10 pm and in this case we made plans to meet at 8:05 but our bus driver decided not to leave the hostel until 8:15 so we of course were late.We were all hungry by the time we found a place in the middle of a pedestrian street that was covered to eat at and have some drinks. The girls showed up later. It was a lot of fun and very relaxed we gave them the gifts of the T-shirts we had gotten made and I think it was a hit.Dinner was good fun with jokes and laughing and good food a bit more expensive then I would go by myself but for the time I could not be bothered by that.No one was all that interested in tearing it up since the music festival was the next day so around midnight we said our good byes in the rain and headed to find a cab back to our place. We had spent at least half an hour figuring out "The Plan" for the next day.Richard and Caroline were going to check out of their place and come and join us in our hostel room for the next night and then the guys were going to make everyone lunch...that part was Richards idea. After lunch we would meet up with the girls at the train station and take a train to the festival.I was surprised how long it took us to get a cab to go home we ended up in a line that was 2 blocks long for a cab and it took like half and hour. When we got back I checked the internet for a bit and then told Lena she could use some of the internet time I bought since I did not expect to use it all.She went down and used the internet and Jeppe was asleep pretty much from the say go.Stacey had the bed directly above mine and I talked to her for a while until I started to nod off bad and then said good night.I was out and gone when Lena returned to the room and tried to talk to me about the internet. If you have talked to me when I am super tired and asleep you know I am pretty much worthless and can not process much. She was telling me that something went wrong and she was not able to log out and so the guy down at the desk gave her another hour of time. This is something I did not care much about and I tried to talk to her but I guess it was funny as Stacey was watching me in the mirror across the room try and hold a conversation with Lena.
