Booked our bus tickets to Cambodia today from hua lumphong train station at the travel agent,s it only cost 800 baht each =£17. It was easier to book through them as the ticket gets you across the boarder and directly into Siem reap. So there's no need to hassle with taxi drivers and no scamming getting through the border, the bus leaves at 7am and we arrive in Cambodia bout 5 pm .
Well the journey begins, arrived at station on time after walking through rush hour travel was showed to the minibus where we sat and waited an hour while driver chatted on his phone .The driver intended on stopping for a break ever hour which just prolonged the journey, we arrived at our final stop about 12:30, where we had to wait for bout 30 mins whilst those without visas had to sort them out at a cost of course!
It's so much easier to get a e-visa like we did. It was all just organised chaos!!! And one big scam from start to finish .we paid 800 baht wich included transport all the way. Some people only paid 300 baht, and some 1400 baht . Then when we arrived at the border, most of us we was then told, its a government bus from border to Siem reap, however the next bus was not for a few hours and would take 4-1/2 hrs to reach destination !!!!! So we opted to share a taxi with two others at another cost of 300 baht each and only took 2hrs !!!!!!
It was money making all the way, but apart from that the 11 hr journey was ok and the driver takes you through all customs ect, . We are staying at the Riverside Hotel in Siem reap and it's so nice the staff are friendly , nice big rooms nice pool and breakfast at the roof garden . 2 minute walk to all the shops and bars and it only cost £6 each a night .
