Hello! We are very sorry we have not updated in such a long time. In Delhi we did not do very much and in Kathmandu we had a few days rest, but since then we have been very busy...
On Tuesday we left Kathmandu and went white water rafting in the Trishuli river. This was lots of fun, partly due to our instructor being intent on soaking us all in very cold water at every opportunity! From there we caught a public bus to Pokhara. The bus was an experience... our bags were stored on the roof and more than once the bus had less than four wheels on the ground!
The next day we embarked on a 4day/3night trek in the Annapurna region of the Himalayas. On the way to the start point in the taxi, after about 15 minutes of severe off-roading, the driver remarked that the road was not very good! It was very debatable whether the road was indeed a road at all! The trek was very challenging but extremely enjoyable. We walked about 50km, much of which was very difficult terrain. The scenery was fantastic and we were lucky enough to go during the second biggest festival in the Nepali calender (which is very different to ours). We thoroughly enjoyed visiting all the mountain villages and learning a bit about their local culture. Simon especially enjoyed (after a suitable amount of 'Raski'- local wine) dancing with the chief of a village during one night of festival celebrations!
We were very lucky to have an excellent guide, called Prakash, who taught us many things about Nepalese life. For example, in Nepal it is currently the year 2068! This explains why Prakash was so confused when he found out we were born in 1990, making us over 70 years old!
We have thoroughly enjoyed our time in Nepal so far and we are looking forward to the rest of the time we have here. Tomorrow we are heading to Chitwan National Park where we are going on safari on a Elephant! We will hopefully update you all soon with more photos and another blog!

Mum The photos are excellent! The Napalese people sound very welcoming and friendly- and the " Raski" must be strong if Simon was dancing with the chief! Lovely to see you and chat just now- even though it was a bit blurred, love Mum, Dad and James and Zola x
