It was about 30 km from the Bulgarian border and catered specially for Turkish truck drivers - we must have been a long day's drive from Istanbul (which was about 700km away). Yes... Zagreb is not in Austria, but this site doesn't recognise Croatia as a country in its own right. So, Zagreb is big, sprawling, industrial and has lots of old communist tower blocks, but the centre is characterful, beer is cheap and food is plentiful. Tomorrow we're off to Belgrade and then Sofia.

After an eventful trip from Dover (had to pass through customs three times, ran out of diesel in Belgium and then had to replace the starter motor on a motorway, also in Belgium), have finally reached Salzburg. The whirlwind tour continues tomorrow with Slovenia and Croatia. Serbia on Friday, Bulgaria on Saturday and Turkey on Sunday.
